The Tamahunga Drive pedestrian and cycle bridge was highly anticipated by local community groups for several years and construction was completed in 2018.
Hutchinson Consulting Engineers completed the investigation, design, procurement and construction supervision for the pedestrian and cycle bridge on behalf of Auckland Transport, with involvement from the Matakana Community Group.
The bridge comprises a multi-span timber bridge structure on timber piles, with retained concrete abutment approaches and paths. The bridge provides safe pedestrian and cyclist access between Matakana township and the residential subdivisions at Tamahunga Drive.
