Auckland Transport engaged Hutchinson Consulting Engineers to provide civil engineering services for the new Hibiscus Coast Busway, carpark and upcoming Park and Ride station building. The Hibiscus Coast Park and Ride is located on Hibiscus Coast Highway, Silverdale, opposite the Silverdale Rugby Club, and provides a public connection to the existing bus services between Auckland City and the North Shore.
Hutchinson completed a full re-design of the carpark and the stormwater pond that had previously been designed by another engineering firm. The re-design resulted in an increased number of carparks, reduction of area for the stormwater pond and large cost savings for the client.
The completed Hibiscus Coast Busway Station offers a total of 600 carparks in the park and ride and a station building providing amenities, such as toilets, a café kiosk, secure cycle parking, and ticketing and AT HOP top-up facilities.
