Bjorklund Bridge, Pakiri
Bjorklund Bridge replacement at Bjorklund Road in Pakiri was required with urgency following the wash-out of the western abutment of the previous bridge structure during a storm in 2020.
Hutchinson Consulting Engineers provided engineering investigation, design, planning assessments and obtained the required consents for the bridge replacement.
The Hutchinson design incorporated stream flow enhancement measures including the design to remove the central bridge pier foundations and the protection of the stream embankments with rock armouring to mitigate the risk of future failures.
Hutchinson carried out regular routine site supervision of the bridge construction through to completion in June 2020.
