Hutchinson Consulting Engineers were engaged for the renewal of the tennis and netball hardcourts at Wellsford Centennial Park. The works include a new reinforced concrete court pavement with cushioned surfacing, retaining walls, perimeter fencing, sports lighting, accessible ramps and stormwater management.
A key design challenge was maximising playable court area for netball, tennis, basketball and pickleball while meeting the requirements of each sporting code, all within a site constrained by mature trees, buried services and variable ground conditions. With team members who use the park’s sports clubs themselves, Hutchinson brought first-hand local knowledge to the project.
