King Edward Parade Wharf, Devonport

The King Edward Parade Wharf is a 1950s era coastal jetty structure that extends into the Waitemata Harbour from the Devonport Yacht Club.

The wharf had been subject to a series of storm event related damage and general coastal weathering over recent decades and was closed to the public due to structural inadequacy and health and safety concerns.

Designs for a replacement wharf facility had previously been completed for Auckland Council however budget constraints prevented the implementation of a full replacement and it was proposed to reduce the extent of the existing wharf area into a new viewing platform, that repurposed various structural elements of the existing jetty as a cost-saving and character retention initiative.

In 2021 Hutchinson managed the design, procurement tendering process and physical works supervision for the revised facility.
