In October 2023, ex-tropical cyclone Lola caused extensive damage to the Snells Beach seawall and footpath at Sunburst Avenue. There was an urgent need to reinstate the area and create a more resilient seawall. Hutchinson Consulting Engineers completed the necessary investigation and detailed engineering design, which enabled physical work to begin in December 2023. The construction of the 125m long seawall and concrete footpath was completed in early February 2024.
